Setting up a Wordpress Site NGINX and MySQL

I am writing this blog post to remind myself how I was able to set up a wordpress site running on VirtualBox, Ubuntu 16.04, NGINX and MySQL as its database server.

Firstly, I forgot my root's password to access MySQL, so I googled for a way to reset the password.
I realized that there is a difference in resetting the password depending on the version of the mysql server.  URL: http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.7/en/resetting-permissions.html

When I was able to recover access in MySQL, I proceeded on to setup PHP 7 FPM to run with NGINX.  I already installed PHP 7 before, so I only need to setup PHP7-FPM. To set up a socket connection with NGINX, you must have a pool for every site.
Important to modify in a pool config are:
user, group, listen. the listen config must be the same socket file in absolute path in the NGINX config.
user and group (I don't know why) is a linux user and group.

Masteral Degree in Information Technology at AMAOEd

Hi everyone! I am back. No, I just had no ideas in mind what to blog about. I am thinking about setting up new blog for movie reviews, so watch out for it.

I currently applied for the Masteral Degree in Information Technology at AMAOEd, and I got accepted. I am excited to finish this program and I hope to learn so many things from this program. I need to manage my time very well now, because I also work full-time as a web developer.

Did you also take a masteral degree? Can you share your experience? Please post your experience as comment below. I want to know more about how you manage to finish the program.

The Guy Suddenly Attempted To Sit Down, Gets Hit On The Head

Watch this video how this guy gets hit on the head with the handlebar. I was making sounds as I approached when this guy suddenly attempted to sit down. I am not sure if he was really going to sit down or just looking downwards on the floor.

Making Movie Reviews

After a few movies that I watched and made reviews of them, I compared my ratings with the tomatometer in rottentomatoes.com  I realized that none of the ratings I gave for most of the movies I watched was near or almost the same. The nearest one was The Forest.

Making movie reviews is hard because when you go to watch the movie, you have to be in critic mode and at the same time, enjoy the movie.

Do you think that my review ratings are unfair and biased on what I like about the movie? How can I improve my movie reviews? Please let me know.

Flooded Sta Mesa Route

Before I go to ride my bike to work, I was able to watch the news early morning today about Sta. Mesa getting flooded due to Maynilad's broken pipe in the area. I was surprised about the news because that's my usual route to Ortigas and also when going home from work.
(some links to the photos below.)

I wanted to be early in the office today so I quickly packed up. When I got there in Sta. Mesa, I see it for myself that the flood was higher than what i saw in the TV. I was wearing my shoes for work when I bike, so I was convinced by myself to take an alternative route.

Somewhere when I was taking the alternative route, I met another member of Pinoy MTB - Facebook Group. We were both lost and so, we grouped together to find our way to work. And we did find our way back to our usual route. We said goodbyes …

Watching Movies As A Critic

I admit, I am fond of watching movies. And because of that, I thought of writing my criticisms for the movies that I watched and post it here.

Here's how I am going to do it. I watch the movie without reading any reviews made by another. In that way, I am totally clueless about the movie. There's a tendency that I might have already watched the trailer of the movie, but I hope that doesn't affect me how I know about the movie. If I read a review from the others, I will note in the post of the article about my criticism of the movie and provide the URL.

I hope that you could give feedback about the reviews I make. And take note, I am going to write them as shortly as possible because I am afraid that I might give the spoilers as well. I also think to give ratings to the movies, so if you don't agree with my review, please post it as a comment on the review. Thanks!

Bike Lanes in Ortigas Center

Today, I want to share to my audience my experience in going the bike lanes in Ortigas. I uploaded the videos in facebook to reach certain people who also experience this nightmarish challenge.

Witness how they block the bike lanes in Ortigas! This is the first part of the video before I go to cross the Julia Vargas Avenue.

Please Help Identifying This Driver!

The driver of this vehicle does not know limits. Please help by giving details about this driver.

Watch the video by James Deakin how this driver manages to escape after hitting 2 motorcyclists.

Hit and Run caught on cam in BGCHelp. Anyone know the owner/driver of this Innova plate number ACA 9130? He ran a traffic light, was on the wrong side of the road, hit a motorcycle, backed up, then hit another motorcycle that was trying to prevent him getting away. All in broad daylight in BGC. PM me if you have details. Share it if you don't. Video by niceguynicPosted by James Deakin on Tuesday, January 26, 2016

Why I bike

I read the news today that Howie Severino, a news anchor of GMA 7 News, had an accident while biking his way to work. He said that the driver is claiming to be in the right way, but later apologetic. No major injuries, only a cut on his leg.

This affected me so much because, I also bike to work from Monday to Friday. Even a reporter biking to work can get into an accident.

Biking is beneficial for me. It helps me save more from my salary. Before, I used to ride the LRT and MRT just to go to the office. For 2 work weeks, I get to spend about 800 pesos for the LRT and MRT fares.

Biking also helps me move and sweat more before sitting in front of the computer. I drink lots of water everyday. My last blood exam revealed to me that my uric acid levels dropped after only a month of biking. I really hope to improve my waist line as well after few more months.
